Every day, you make thousands of decisions — most of them without conscious deliberation. Decision Intelligence is about understanding this process deeply, recognizing where intuition excels, where it stumbles, and how to build a personal practice that makes you reliably better at choosing well. This course draws on research from behavioral economics, cognitive science, and the study of expert performance to give you a practical, evidence-based approach to decision-making.
You will begin by examining how humans actually make decisions — not the idealized rational model, but the real cognitive process involving emotion, pattern recognition, and unconscious processing. Then you will develop your pattern recognition abilities through deliberate practice, learning how experts in fields from firefighting to chess develop their remarkable intuitive accuracy. In the third module, you will build a personal decision toolkit that integrates analytical and intuitive thinking, including a decision journal practice that compounds in value over time. The fourth module takes you further — into cognitive bias awareness, decision-making under genuine uncertainty, and scaling your practice to team and organizational settings. The course is designed for roughly 2-3 hours per week over four modules.
Decision Intelligence is for anyone who wants to make better choices — whether you are a leader responsible for high-stakes business decisions, a creative professional navigating ambiguity, or simply someone who wants to spend less time agonizing and more time acting with confidence. If you have ever wondered why some people seem to have reliably good judgment, this course will show you that it is a skill, not a gift — and one you can develop.

The best decisions don't come from analysis OR intuition — they come from a deliberate integration of both. Here's a practical framework for combining them without letting one overrule the other.
The pre-mortem is a structured way to access the gut feelings your team is suppressing. It turns vague unease into actionable risk intelligence — before it's too late.
From practitioners who've taken this course
The decision journal practice has been transformative. I started during the Module 2 lessons and within three months I could actually see my intuitive accuracy improving in my product roadmap calls. The pattern recognition module helped me understand why some of my instincts were reliable and others were not.

Finally, a framework that does not ask me to choose between data and intuition. The three-voice approach from the final lesson is now part of every strategy engagement I run with clients. The pre-mortem method alone has saved two of my projects from predictable failures.
Meera S.
Strategy Consultant
I was skeptical that a course on intuition would be relevant to my work, but the module on how experts see what others miss changed how I think about classroom observation. I now trust my gut read on student engagement while also knowing when to check it with data. I have recommended this course to my entire department.

Not at all. This course is about expanding your decision-making toolkit to include both analytical and intuitive intelligence — and knowing when each is most reliable. You will learn specific frameworks, like the kind/wicked environment distinction, that help you determine when data-driven analysis should lead and when experienced intuition deserves more weight. The goal is integration, not replacement.
Absolutely. The frameworks in this course apply directly to professional decisions — hiring, strategy, product development, investment, and negotiation. They also apply to personal choices, creative problems, and everyday life. Many of the research examples are drawn from business and organizational contexts, and the practical exercises are designed to be used immediately in your professional work.
This course will complement and strengthen your analytical practice, not conflict with it. You will learn why purely analytical approaches sometimes miss critical information that experienced judgment can catch, and you will develop specific techniques — like the pre-mortem and the three-voice approach — for integrating intuitive signals into your existing data-driven workflows. Several of the course participants who have found it most valuable are analysts, engineers, and data scientists.
The course is designed to be completed in four to five weeks at a pace of roughly two to three hours per week. Each lesson takes about 20 to 30 minutes to read and reflect on, and the practice exercises range from 5 to 20 minutes each. The decision journal practice, introduced in Module 3, is designed to continue beyond the course as an ongoing habit, but it requires only a few minutes per entry.
